How to Use tinctures

At Griffo Botanicals, we’re best known for our all-natural herbal extracts. With a determination to craft the purest and most effective products, we’re careful to use nothing but the finest ingredients. Because our extracts are so powerful, they must be used under the supervision of a trained and licensed professional to ensure safety. However, whether you’re a patient interested in our products or a wholesale distributor, you may have some questions, such as what the proper dosage amounts are or how long they take to work. Today, we’ll provide you with those answers.

About Our Extracts

Our family-owned and operated business is all about living locally. We believe in building community with our suppliers from

Using a unique closed-loop system, we produce our extracts in a way that ensures nothing gets lost. We preserve the active ingredients and essential oils while crafting the most concentrated products available. Patients can use our extracts to find relief from ailments concerning the heart, digestion, liver, skin, and more.

Proper Dosages

As a botanical extracts supplier, Griffo Botanicals cannot provide official dosages because that is to be determined by licensed professionals on a per-patient basis. However, we can offer a range of dosages as guidance. As a patient, you must ask your provider for specific dosing information, and as a provider, you must consider your patient’s age, weight, and condition severity when determining specific dosages.

We’d like to remind you that our extracts are incredibly concentrated. As such, a single teaspoon of our formulas is the equivalent of about two to three teaspoons or three capsules of other brands’ formulations. With this in mind, our dosing recommendations are as follows:

Chronic

  • MIld symptoms - 1 tsp per day
  • Moderate symptoms - 2 tsp per day

Acute

  • Moderate symptoms - 2 tsp twice per day
  • Severe symptoms - 2 tsp three times per day

Dosage Equivalents

Most acupuncturists and patients are used to taking pills and capsules.  Many people are not used to tinctures and don't know how much to take.  To help you conceptualize how much to prescribe or take we have compiled a dosage equivalent to more common forms of herbs.

  • 50gm raw herbs
  • 10gm concentrated granules
  • 20 capsules
  • 62 teapills
  • 2 tsp (10ml) tincture

How to take our tinctures

One of the benefits of tinctures is that they are so easy to take.  Because they are alcohol based, they go into the system very quickly and don't need to be taken long before or after eating.  It is just important to not take them directly with food.  Otherwise, anytime is fine.

Our concentrated tinctures can be taken directly for easy convenience.  They can also be added to a small glass of water if one prefers to dilute the flavor to make it more palatable. If the flavor is strong then the dose can be chased with a little juice or piece of fruit.

What To Expect

When using our products for treatment, patients must remain consistent with their dosages. If directions are followed properly, patients with acute conditions often see an improvement after using one to two bottles. On the other hand, patients with chronic conditions can see improvement after using three bottles. If there is no improvement, we recommend a dosage adjustment.

At Griffo Botanicals, we strive to help patients suffering from a wide variety of health conditions. If you’re a patient interested in finding our herbal extracts, or you’re a wholesale provider interested in distributing them, please contact us today.
